Focus of the Academy
Na Fianna Finn Art of Combat will be an authentic embodiment of both the past and present, based on ancient tribal structures and modern urban self- defence. So we offer both modern and traditional teachings, and with this we are also given greater knowledge and understanding of the heritage, culture and traditions of both south-east Asia and that of our own rich heritage. Na Fianna Finn Combat Academy is also dedicated to the practice and revival of Western Martial Arts. Through the teaching of accurate technique with an strong athletic focus, in combination with the continual study of surviving manuals, focuses on researching and reviving the forgotten teachings of the historical Masters of Defence and fighting schools such as RA I.33 (“one” thirty three), Johannes Liechtenauer, Hans Tallhoffer, Johannes Leckuchner, Fiore dei Liberi. These treatises instruct students in wrestling and striking arts, knife fighting and defense, swordplay, axe and spear arts, and mounted combat. We believe firmly in testing our interpretations through combat. The Academy practices full-contact sparring in both unarmoured and armoured forms.
The Na Fianna Finn Combat Academy is proud to be part of the re-discovery and reconstruction of an effective and battle-tested European Martial Arts tradition based on thousands of years of practice and distillation.
